Plain-language terms for using Ming. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these.

The service

Ming is a daily Chinese-vocabulary app: spaced-repetition lessons, a streak, and progress synced to your account. We may add, change, or remove features over time, and may need to pause or end the service — if we do, we'll try to give reasonable notice.

Your account

You're responsible for keeping access to your sign-in method (Apple, Google, or your email) secure. You must be old enough to use the app under the laws where you live, and Ming isn't directed at children under 13.

Acceptable use

Use Ming for its intended purpose — learning. Don't try to break, reverse-engineer, or abuse the service (including automating lessons to fake progress, or attempting to access another user's data), and don't use it for anything illegal.

Your content

Ming doesn't ask you to submit original content — no posts, photos, or public profile. The data you generate (your progress, answers, and settings) stays yours; see the Privacy Policy for how it's handled and how to delete it.

Intellectual property

The app, its design, and its content (including the word catalogue, audio, and illustrations) belong to Ming or its licensors. Using the app doesn't give you any ownership over it.

No warranty

Ming is provided "as is." We work to keep it accurate and reliable, but we don't guarantee it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that it will get you to any particular level of fluency.

Limitation of liability

To the extent allowed by law, Ming isn't liable for indirect or incidental damages arising from your use of the app. Nothing here limits liability where it can't legally be limited.

Ending your account

You can stop using Ming, or delete your account, at any time — see the Support page for how. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Changes to these terms

If we make a meaningful change, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
